DVB-RCT and the Digital Revolution

With modern technology coming into prominence, the old standards of cable video broadcasting are becoming obsolete. These new technologies, such as DVB-RCT, are ushering in a new era of digital TV, where users will have a more interactive experience with their television experience. The DVB-RCT term is short for Digital Video Broadcasting - Return Channel Terrestrial, which means that information in two directions using a wireless or broadband connection. This means that the consumer of a terrestrial television service will be able to communicate with the providing company instead of being limited to only receiving a transmission.

The DVB standard gives many advantages over cable and other outdated television services. As a form of digital TV, the DVB-RCT broadcasts are more cost efficient and do not take a wide spectrum of bandwidth to be used. In addition, the DVB standard has been designed to work over a large land area and with a high number of users. It is estimated that the new technology will work in a radius of approximately 65 kilometers and will be able to handle a maximum of 20,000 interactions each second, meaning that a large number of users will be able to use it t the same time.

Because the digital aspect of video broadcasting is relatively new, the advancement of technology in this area is quite important. With DVB-RCT technologies, the aim is to become an international standard for data transmission by providing increased efficiency and a simply better platform. To meet this goal, the developers have created systems that will use either six, seven, or eight MHz per channel. With different MHz channels, the technology will be available to any location in the world. This translates to lower overall power consumption, with less energy needed to power a user’s equipment than a standard cable box.
